Live transmission of courses and events
The Distance Education Consultancy Committee, with the objective of disseminating knowledge to all places of the Amazon region and the world, uses equipment for live real-time transmissions of its activities, such as courses and events. Since 2013, on Mondays and Wednesdays, via the Newton Project, classes of Calculus I and II are aired live to the academic and external community through the link: http://www.projetonewton.ufpa.br/. In its four years, the Newton Project has reached publics of several Brazilian states and of other countries. AEDi also does live transmissions of many courses and events of scientific and educational nature in the University through a partnership with the Center of Information and Communication Technology of the Federal University of Pará-CTIC-UFPA. One example was the course “Journalism and Temporality: critical interpretations”, lectured by Frederico Tavares (PhD), professor of the Federal University of Ouro Preto. The event was aired live to the University campuses in the countryside of the state and to Open University of Brazil centers.

The professional qualification course in Medicinal Plants and Herbal medicines is a project developed in partnership with the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) and the Ministry of Health in the scope of the Nacional Policy of Integrative and Complimentary Practices to offer a distance qualification course to primary health care professionals. The group offers consultancy and works in the didactic-pedagogical conception of the course in general and of specific activities; in the management and production of didactic resources in different languages (videos, video classes, comics, infographics, orientations guides, e-book containing the exposed content, among others) and in the development of ways to monitoring and evaluating the course from the qualitative and quantitative procedures. The course will be available on AVASUS, on the Health Ministry Library, on RETISFito and on UFPA Multimedia.
Discipline of Brazilian Signs Language (LIBRAS)
To meet a need of the University, the Distance Education Consultancy Committee elaborated the Brazilian Signs Language distance discipline, with a total load of 60 hours. It was initially offered to the distance undergraduate course in Languages and Literature, followed by the distance undergraduate course in Mathematics, both being courses for people interested in becoming teachers in these areas. The discipline aimed to: analyse the importance of inclusion in the classroom by studying the Laws and Decrees to train future teachers for the professional practice; activate the cultural and linguistic perception; prepare the students to work with deaf students of elementary school and high school. The virtual classroom is available on the Moodle Platform.
Development of HotPotatoes activities with teachers and students from Marajó
Between the years of 2010-2014, the PPGCIMES professor Ronaldo de Oliveira Rodrigues (PhD) developed the project “Educative Potential of Informatics/internet: education of professors for the use of basic informatics resources in classroom”, in which was done an important work of preparation/qualification of professors to use computer resources as a support activity in classroom. More recently, it was perceived a new demand because even though these teachers had the basic education, they still had difficulties to elaborate activities using specific software like Hagaque and HotPotatoes. It was detected that the primary question was how to incorporate exercise-practice software, among other modalities, to the curricular contents. Currently, the aim is to potentialize the existing studies in conjunction with students and professors of the University Campus in Marajó – Breves, as well as with the municipal educational network of Curralinho. It is intended to lessen the deficiency in the network from the problematization of informatic resources in the first years of elementary school, having as a guide studies that join technology and education, as well as from the suggestion of activities to be developed with the HotPotato.
